Occupational Medicine & Environmental Toxicology
Workplace injury assessment, toxic exposure evaluation, and workers' compensation cases. Level II full accreditation from the Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation.
Occupational medicine encompasses the evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses arising from workplace exposures. Dr. Bernton holds Level II full accreditation from the Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation and provides expert assessment of workplace injuries, toxic exposure cases, and workers' compensation claims, with particular expertise in environmental toxicology.
Toxic exposure evaluation is a critical component of the practice, covering cases involving carbon monoxide poisoning, volatile organic solvent exposure, mold-related illness, fungal exposure, and other environmental and occupational toxins. These cases require specialized knowledge of toxicology, exposure assessment methodologies, dose-response relationships, and the clinical manifestations of toxic injury.
Dr. Bernton's experience has included medical direction of the HealthONE Occupational Medicine Clinic System and faculty service in the initial Level II Accreditation program of the Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation. He also provided input on the Medical Treatment Guidelines for Chronic Pain Disorder. His familiarity with Colorado workers' compensation guidelines and procedures ensures that evaluations meet the specific requirements of the system.
