Internal Medicine
Board certified consultation for cases where complex medical conditions overlap with musculoskeletal or traumatic injury. Recognized expertise in medical causation assessment.
Dr. Bernton is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, bringing a broad foundation in general internal medicine to his clinical practice. This training is particularly valuable in cases where complex medical conditions overlap with musculoskeletal or traumatic injuries, requiring a clinician who can evaluate the whole patient rather than a single organ system.
Dr. Bernton's internal medicine training and experience has allowed him to accurately assess the relative contributions of injury and medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions to a patient's clinical condition. His ability to evaluate both the musculoskeletal and systemic aspects of a case provides a more complete clinical picture.
Dr. Bernton is a recognized expert in the assessment of medical causation, both within and outside of the work-related occupational medicine system. He has particular expertise in evaluating cases in which traumatic or musculoskeletal injuries occur in the context of ongoing chronic disease, and in assessing causation in medically complex cases.
